The 1860 census has John and Jerusha living in Russia, Lorain, Ohio. right next door to Isaac Hill and his wife Nancy Springer. This census has a birth place of New York for John and Connecticut for Jerusha.
The only place I can even find a close match is a John Springer born March 30 1798. That John Springer's parents are John SPRINGER b New Jersey and Eve ROSA b New York. His siblings would then be Susanna, Tunis, Mary, Jeremiah, Samuel Jarvis W, Julia Ann, and Charles.
Cornelius enlisted Sept 15, 1861 in E Company 42nd Infantry Regiment in Ohio. He died at the age of 22 in St Louis Missouri, of wounds received. His mother Jerusha applied for the pension.
The 1850 census has this family in Milan, Erie , Ohio. Nancy was in the following places. 1825- New York; 1848- Jackson, Michigan; 1855 Oberlin, Ohio; 1858- Oberlin Ohio.
