GENEALOGY INDEX

Toni Norman's web page has a few ancestors in common with my mothers family.

THRALL

This researcher thinks all THRALLs originate from Sandridge England. Certainly a possibility, but I still need to get connected to the early American THRALLs.

There is a a nice THRALL page, here. It lists first THRALL in America as William Thrall, born 1605, in Sandridge, Hertfordshire, England. William immigrated to America on the ship "Mary and John". He died August 03, 1679 in Windsor, Connecticut.

His will only names 2 descendants, a daughter Phillipi and son Timothy. There is another son, David, who loive to be 79, what of his descendants?

Timothy THRALL married Deborah GUNN their children are; Deborah, Timothy, Mehitable, Elizabeth, John1, Martha, Thomas, and twins, Samual and Abigail.

John2 has 5 sons, this John2 THRALL died in East Granby CT, Oct 3 1749. His will states that he had property in Suffield, CT.

If there is indeed a marriage between Russell THRALL and Sarah SOUTHWELL in East Granby CT, there are a few male THRALLs, that could possibly be the ancestor of the Russell THRALL listed below. Somehow this Russell is a 6th or 7th generation descendant of William.

Russell THRALL and Sarah SOUTHWELL

The SOUTHWELLs appear to come from Hampton MA. Some of the family of William SOUTHWELL, b 1666, is in Suffield CT, by 1715, when a SOUTHWELL daughter marries there. William's wife is Sarah STEBBINS. If related she could be the grandmother of Sarah SOUTHWELL that married Russell THRALL.

Born March 1 1782. Russell married Sarah August 02, 1802 in East Granby, Hartford, Connecticut.

They had the following children;
1,Sarah, born 1803;
2, Susan, born 1805;
3, Zoa, born May 03, 1806;
4, Russell, born 1810;
4, Martin, born 1813;
6, Ambrose, May 10, 1815
7, John, born 1817;
8, Charles, born December 20, 1820;
9, George, born December 20, 1820;
10, Jane born, 1823;
11, Lydiaborn, 1825;
12, Keziah, born 1827;

The 1830 census for Hanover, Chautauqua, NY lists Russell Thrall on the line directly below Isaac Wattenpaugh, who is his son-in-law (and my ancestor).

I have not verified all the below information. It is taken from internet sources and needs more documentation. Some may pertain to other Russell THRALLs.

1810 R THRALL ???
1820 Russell is in Vernon, Oneida, New York.
1825 and 1830 he is in Hanover, Chautauqua, New York.
1832 there is a Russell THRALL listed as a cordwainer in Buffalo, Erie, New York. My trusty dictionary says this about a Cordwainer, worker in cordovan leather, (shoe maker). Buffalo isn't very far north of Hanover(township).
There are 4 land sales to a Russell THRALL in Illinois. August 26 1843, December 7 1844, and 2 listed for February 19 1845.

There is another Russell THRALL born about 1776. He was married to Tirza, and he died in Centerville, New York.

Listings for Russell Thrall in Tolland and Windham Counties in Connecticut. A Russell THRALL was a private in Edward Wolcott's company fir the War of 1812. Time of service August 18 1813 - September 16 1813. He was from New London, Connecticut.
