This Lish lineage is not seamless. It will require documentation to confirm the parentage of Joseph Peter LISH. Johann Peter LOESH would have been 12 –14 years old at the birth of Joseph Peter LISH.

I have a letter written by Evelyn Slocum Burke, who is George LISH's granddaughter, she states that Joseph LISH was french, his wife was Angeline, who came from Ireland. She states that Joseph L LISH is married to Harriet Ann TRIPP, but she states that Harriet's parents are Lyman Blaksely TRIPP and Rhoda Jane..... This differs somewhat from my GedCom

Johann Peter LOESCH and Marie Catherine EDERS

Born April 04, 1763, he died in 1842. This man connects back to a long line in Germany. I wonder about the connection to Joseph Peter LISH, below.

Joseph Peter LISH and Mary LYONS

Possibly born 1775/1777, in either Minisink or Goshen, Orange county, New York. It is not a seamless fit to have his father born in 1763, his son born in 1803 fits ok however.

Joseph Lyons LISH and Harriett Ann TRIPP

Born April 8 1803.

Moved to Michigan prior 1840, as he is on that Kalamazoo census.

In 1850 travels to Utah with the Warren Foote Company. They leave Kanesville(now Council Bluffs) IA 17 June 1850. They arrive in the Salt Lake Valley 26 September 1850. 540 individuals and 104 wagons started this journey.

1860 Joseph is in the Ogden, Utah census, with his wife Harriet, and son Charles.

My family history showes Harriet's parents to be Lyman Blakesly TRIPP and her mother is Rhoda Jane. (George LISH and Rachel SHARP named one of their daughters after this Rhoda)

George W LISH and Rachel SHARP

A family letter form 1980 by Evelyn Burke says George was born January 14 1835, Litchfield Michigan. George was possibly named after a neighbor George WOOD, who went for the doctor at George's birth. His family moved to Utah, he stayed behind and lived with George WOOD until 1850, when he was 15. He left for California with 22 other men. They wintered in Utah and continued to California in 1851. In 1856 he decided to return to Michigan for a girl, but found her married with a family. He trekked back to California in 1857, where he married Rachel SHARP, on 4 March 1861. George Wood LISH and Rachel SHARP were divorced in the 1880s. George married Mande BUCHANON in 1900.

Other researchers give a June 14, 1841 birth date.

George married Rachel March 4 1861. There were 3 children who died in infancy according to family letters.

1870 George and Rachel are in San Bernardino CA. They have 2 daughters Rachel, and Rhoda.

The 1880 census has Rachel Lish as a wife to G. W. Lish. They are in Portage, Box Elder, Utah. They have 5 children, 4 were born in CA, the last born in UT.

George commits suicide March 25 1918. Obituary says 5 week stay in hospital and, senility are cause of suicide.
